When we got back to the hotel she was pretty much the same. Hard to please and comfort, not sure of what she wanted and crying a lot. Her temperature was 102, and giving her Tylenol for the first time was a big fat mess as she spit it out. She finally settled down in her crib for a nap, but not without many tears and screams. When she woke up nothing much had changed, the fever, the tears, the screams, the shoving us away, it was all still there.
It's hard to see her sick and suffering and have her not letting us care for and comfort her. I want to scoop her up, hold and rock her and she just does not know what to do with that. She will learn in time, but today it's difficult. We are homesick, miss our kids, worshipping with our church family this Sunday morning, and we have been dealing a sick and unhappy baby all. day. long.
We are also having some pretty heavy thunderstorms here this afternoon and evening, so it has made us even more grateful for this hotel room suite. So I write tonight just to say it hasn't been all roses here in Guangzhou. We are taking the bad and the good and counting down the days until we are home.
Here is a short video of Little Miss Cranky Pants today. She's still cute as ever and cracks me up when she turns herself the other way. But in my heart I ache for her to turn toward me and not away from me.
Ooh, I know how frustrating that is. Brynna spit out all that suff the first few times too. Then only took it under duress and some tricky momma manuevering moves. Hang in there, I will be praying for the fever to break and healing to come!
ReplyDeleteHi Scott, Jane & Mercy, We've been praying for you guys especially this morning. Please know you 6 (three there, three here) are in our hearts and prayers. Also I have some girls clothes that may serve you should you need them for Mercy when you get back. -Gloria for The O'Brien Family
ReplyDeletePraying for health and patience...
ReplyDeleteOh, my, cranky sick Chinese looks pretty much like cranky sick American, doesn't it. Does she like baths? Sometimes that would soothe my kids. Praying for love, patience, health, continued grace for your suite sweetie.
ReplyDeleteCatching up with your blogs and posts here tonight. We greeted at church today... you were missed by many! Just a few days - hang on to his grace and mercy!!

You're doing great - hang in there!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteShe really does remind me of my Jayne. You're right - Jane about them being 'close in age'. But it is in almost everything you say. These girls are so similar... This is the stage they're in. It's with the good and bad. Makes no difference the ethnicity...it's the age of the child and how they are and act and continue to grow and change.
And blossom.
She is beautiful and I'm so sorry she isn't feeling well. I feel like I battled ear infections all of the time with mine - along with teething. It's all a part of it..
